U.S. companies are increasingly using AI and cloud technologies for application development and management (ADM). A new report from Information Services Group (ISG) finds that AI is automating tasks, improving software quality, and reducing downtime. This leads to higher efficiency, increased developer productivity, and faster time to market.

The report also notes that generative AI (GenAI) has strong potential in quality assurance. By automating test creation and scenario simulation, GenAI can speed up testing and catch issues that manual inspections might miss. Companies are working to ensure GenAI operates correctly and ethically.

More U.S. enterprises are seeking provider engagements that cover both applications and underlying IT infrastructure. These deals optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security while reducing costs and streamlining vendor management.

Development is moving to major public cloud platforms to create more scalable, resilient, and flexible applications. “As market trends and customer needs change, cloud-native development enables enterprises to respond quickly,” said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader, ISG Provider Lens Research. “Greater agility is a key reason companies move application development to the cloud.”

The integration of site reliability engineering (SRE) with AI for IT operations (AIOps) is also shifting ADM operations.

This approach uses machine learning and analytics to analyze large volumes of operational data, providing insights into system performance. SRE teams can proactively find and fix potential issues to ensure uninterrupted service. The ISG report evaluated 51 providers across six areas of next-generation ADM services.

Leading companies recognized include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, HCLTech, IBM, Infosys, and TCS. Quinnox and Hitachi Digital Services were named Rising Stars.
