serve Robotics rolls out Gen3 delivery robots

Delivery Robots

Serve Robotics has unveiled its third-generation autonomous delivery robot, which boasts significantly enhanced capabilities and reduced manufacturing costs. The company has started manufacturing these new robots and plans to deploy 2,000 units on the Uber Eats platform across multiple U.S. markets in 2025. The new model features Nvidia’s Jetson Orin module with five times more on-board computing power, Ouster’s new REV7 digital lidar, and major upgrades to the sensor suite.

These hardware advancements enable the robots to deploy Serve’s newest AI model architecture, embed new AI capabilities, and make autonomous navigation decisions faster. The third-generation robots can move roughly twice as fast, travel approximately twice as far on a single charge, and spend six more hours in the field each day compared to the previous models.

They also have an expanded cargo bin that holds four large 16-inch pizzas or 15% more volume than before. Safety features have been enhanced, including fail-safe mechanical braking, autonomous collision avoidance, and new emergency braking that stops 40% more quickly. The robots’ new drivetrain is equipped with suspension for a smoother and faster ride while protecting food quality, and their improved water resistance allows them to operate in a wider range of weather conditions.

Dr. Ali Kashani, CEO and co-founder of Serve Robotics, said, “Producing a cutting-edge robot that can drive faster and further while running 5 times more AI and slashing costs by half is a true engineering feat. I am proud of what our team has accomplished with our third-generation robot, which represents the culmination of years of relentless effort.”

Euan Abraham, Chief Hardware & Manufacturing Officer of Serve Robotics, added, “Our cutting-edge robots will wheel into new cities and neighborhoods in 2025 and we can’t wait for users to experience their delivery capabilities first-hand.”

In the coming months, Serve will deploy its newest robots across Los Angeles and in one new metro market, supporting its national scaling plans.
