Google has started rolling out the “Pixel Watch fully charged” notification to more users. This feature alerts users on their phones when their Pixel Watch reaches 100% charge. The notification is delivered through the Pixel Watch companion app.
It’s a simple update, but users have been waiting for it for quite some time. It appears that a recent server-side update has made this notification more widely available. Before this, users had to manually check their watch’s battery status.
Some Pixel Watch owners might recall a period nearly a year ago when these notifications sporadically appeared on certain devices. Initially, a small group of users discovered a behind-the-scenes setting that they could manually enable. This led to some users receiving these notifications until early 2024, when they mysteriously stopped.
The situation was discussed in forums and social media through to April, but Google never officially acknowledged it as a Pixel Watch feature.
Pixel Watch app notifications expand
Over the past weekend, the “Pixel Watch fully charged” notifications started appearing again on some devices.
As shown in screenshots taken on Saturday, there seems to be no recent updates that would explain these notifications. The Pixel Watch 3 is currently running the latest Wear OS 5 firmware. Interestingly, not all devices are showing these notifications as of this morning.
In summary, while some hoped to confirm that the “Pixel Watch fully charged” notifications had officially returned, it seems they are still appearing sporadically. This could indicate they might be reintroduced soon, but there is no official word from Google at this time. In other news, there was no Pixel Watch October update due to a bug that required some users to fully reset their device to fix it.
Despite this, Android 14 on the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 seems to be performing quite well. The October patch, expected to be the first update for the Pixel Watch 3, will focus on bug fixes rather than new features. Additionally, there was no update for Pixel phones or Tablets today.
However, Google is expected to roll out another Android 14 security patch soon.
