Garmin has unveiled the Lily 2 Active, a stylish and athletic smartwatch that introduces several upgrades focused on health and wellness while maintaining the chic design the Lily 2 series is known for. The most notable upgrade is the addition of a built-in GPS for tracking outdoor activities. Previous models required connection to a smartphone to provide this functionality.
The independent GPS allows users to leave their phones behind and focus on workouts. Data collected from exercises is integrated into both new and returning Activity Profile apps. In addition to strength, cardio, and biking profiles from older Lily 2 devices, users now have access to golf, tennis, and skiing profiles, among others.
For those who prefer guided exercises, Garmin offers downloadable on-screen workouts for strength training, HIIT, yoga, and more. The Lily 2 Active also boasts heart-centric features not present in other versions.
Garmin Lily 2 comes with GPS
The Pulse Ox Sensor tracks blood oxygen saturation, and the HRV Status monitors heart rate variability during sleep. The Lily 2 Active is slightly larger at 38 x 38 x 11 mm and weighs 29 grams. It retains the 1-inch touchscreen display with an image resolution of 240 x 201 pixels.
Two new buttons on the side allow users to start or stop activities and navigate through screens. The battery life is improved, with the device lasting up to nine days on a single charge, compared to five days for the older model. However, using the GPS can reduce battery life from nine days to just nine hours.
Other features of the Lily 2 Active include smart notifications, Body Battery Energy Monitoring, and a “hidden display” that conceals the device’s UI, leaving behind the patterned watch face. The Garmin Lily 2 Active is available for purchase on Garmin’s website for $299.99 in two colors: Lunar Gold with the Bone Silicone Band and Silver with the Purple Jasmine Silicone Band.
