Ubisoft and developer Massive have announced the launch of the first major story DLC for Star Wars Outlaws, titled “Wild Card,” set to release on November 21. The DLC will feature protagonist Kay Vess infiltrating a sabacc tournament with the help of Lando Calrissian, continuing their relationship from the base game. The announcement, made via social media, also includes updates to the base game and changes to some of its challenging stealth systems.
The development team expressed gratitude to players for their support and feedback, which has been essential in prioritizing game improvements and updates. Ubisoft also revealed that the PC version of Star Wars Outlaws will be released on Steam simultaneously with the “Wild Card” DLC. This decision is part of broader changes to Ubisoft’s financial targets and distribution strategy.
Despite solid ratings, with a Metacritic score of 76 and user scores of 3.9/5 across First Party and Epic stores, Star Wars Outlaws underperformed upon its initial release. Ubisoft acknowledged the game’s lackluster launch and outlined significant changes within the company to address the issue.
Outlaws’ wild card DLC announced
The company stated, “In response to player feedback, Ubisoft’s development teams are fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience.” These efforts aim to engage a larger audience during the holiday season and position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer. Critics praised the game for its intergalactic heist adventure and exploration but noted issues with simple stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and numerous bugs at launch. Ubisoft remains committed to addressing these concerns and turning the game into a significant success over time.
In addition to the “Wild Card” DLC, two more Star Wars Outlaws cosmetics bundles—Hunter’s Legacy and Cartel Ronin—will be released as part of the Season Pass. A free update introducing new Contracts for all players will also be available on the same day. Ubisoft has assured investors that its development teams are working hard to create multiple title updates that will bring optimization, gameplay polishing, tweaks, and quality of life changes, including adjustments to combat and stealth gameplay.
The previously announced Hondo Ohnaka Story Pack, titled “A Pirate’s Fortune,” is set to arrive in spring 2025. It remains to be seen if these efforts will be enough to change Star Wars Outlaws’ fortunes, as the game faced criticism for its lack of branching, open stealth, systemic options, and the sheer joy of gameplay found in other titles when it launched in August.
