Morehouse College has risen five places to rank No. 95 among Liberal Arts Colleges nationwide, according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The U.S. News rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on 17 measures of academic quality. They focus on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students. Rice experienced a significant leap in the social mobility ranking, climbing 66 spots.
Rice is No. 18 in the 2025 U.S. News “Best Colleges” rankings and stands out in the top 10 for both best value and undergraduate teaching programs.

The university was also named the 29th most innovative school in the country. “These strong rankings affirm our unwavering commitment to delivering a top-tier, affordable education,” said Rice President Reginald DesRoches. “At Rice, everything we do is for the good and advancement of humanity.
We pride ourselves on providing exceptional value and personalized teaching to the leaders of the future.”
Rice also ranked 19th for “Best Value” in another significant list.
Rice excels in value and teaching
The university has been consistently ranked among the top 10 for undergraduate teaching by U.S. News.
This year, Rice welcomed a record number of new faculty, hiring 58 new tenure-track and 44 non-tenure-track professors. “The Rice educational experience is unmatched,” said Amy Dittmar, Howard R. Hughes Provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
“By offering personalized education, tailored learning and enriching experiences, we ensure our students are equipped to address the world’s complex challenges.”
Rice also excelled in specific program rankings released by U.S. News. The George R. Brown School of Engineering claimed the 20th spot nationally for its undergraduate engineering program.
Biomedical engineering ranked ninth, and electrical engineering climbed to 16th place. The Jones Graduate School of Business has seen substantial growth. The new undergraduate business major launched in 2021 is now ranked 27th.
The entrepreneurship program improved to 14th, while the undergraduate economics program rose to 30th. “Our course curriculum combined with real-world global experiences ensures that our graduates are ready to meet and shape the future of business,” said Peter Rodriguez, dean of the Jones Graduate School of Business. In another notable ranking, Rice’s undergraduate psychology program ranked 34th nationally.
The U.S. News rankings offer comprehensive data on factors such as graduation rates, graduate indebtedness, and postgraduate earnings.
