Sports Performance Optimization

SportAI, an artificial intelligence firm in the sports tech industry, is making strides with innovative solutions that enhance sports performance and develop personalized training programs. The company, supported by famed Chess player Magnus Carlsen, employs computer vision, machine learning and biometric evaluation to provide specialized data-driven analysis.

Focusing primarily on tennis, SportAI offers real-time data to players, coaches, and enthusiasts. This technology empowers them to make more informed decisions about training and strategies. Through this unique blend of technologies, they provide opportunities for injury prevention, understanding player strengths and weaknesses, and tailoring training routines.

SportAI’s CEO, Lauren Pedersen, an ex-NCAA tennis athlete, advocates the utilization of AI for objective, cost-effective, and scalable technique analysis and player tracking.

Pedersen envisages leveraging AI to remove bias from performance evaluations, thereby facilitating more accurate and user-friendly technique analysis. She firmly believes in the potential of AI in real-time player performance and development tracking, enhancing decision-making processes.

SportAI uses video feeds from multiple sources to analyze an athlete’s technique compared to professional tennis players and suggest improvements based on the data analyzed.

Despite its focus on racquet sports, SportAI aims to extend its services to other swing-based sports like golf, baseball, and cricket. The company predominantly sees itself as a business-to-business platform, planning successful partnerships with coaching associations, training schools, retailers, and broadcast networks to diversify its services.

After gaining its first clients from a tennis club training platform with AI-analysis-installed cameras, SportAI secured $1.8 million in a seed funding round led by Skyfall Ventures in August. The acquired funds will be directed towards technological advancements, workforce expansion, and client diversification. SportAI is actively seeking collaborations with various sports clubs and organizations for wider scale deployment of its AI technology, signifying a significant leap in its journey to transform sports training and analytics.
