Gradiant attains unicorn status in sustainable water solutions

"Sustainable Water Unicorn"

Gradiant, a water purification startup, recently reached the coveted ‘unicorn’ status following $225 million venture capitalist funding. This breakthrough comes amidst the global quest for sustainable water solutions, marking Gradiant as a key player in the industry.

There is an increasing demand for innovative water repurposing and recycling methods due to the high rate of water exhaustion by industries globally. This is driven by escalating drought conditions that are posing a threat to the sustainability of global water supplies.

The worldwide market for water and wastewater treatment is expected to reach $0.5 trillion by the end of this decade. The pharmaceutical, food and beverage, textile, mining, and power sectors are the main contributors to this surge.

Modern water treatment methods heavily reliant on energy usage and intense chemicals are facing critique. In response, firms such as Gradiant, Xylem, and Veolia are developing more sustainable and energy-efficient alternatives.

Gradiant’s leap into sustainable water market

Gradiant, in particular, employs technology that reduces chemical usage, minimizing both environmental impact and operational costs.

Gradiant’s wastewater treatment process, developed by co-founders Prakash Govindan and Anurag Bajpayee, is modeled after nature’s rain cycle. This revolutionary approach is specially designed for treating highly contaminated wastewater, reducing the presence of liquid waste significantly.

Notably, Govindan confirmed that their technology reduces traditional water treatment costs by around 50%. Compared to the 50% to 60% efficiency rate of conventional technologies, Gradiant assures a remarkable 99% water recovery rate.

Gradiant’s commitment to excellence and innovation is evidenced by its significant clientele, including industry giant Adnoc. Its unparalleled progress in water conservation cements Gradiant’s position as a forerunner in next-generation water purification initiatives.
