According to Wolfe Research, the focus of the financial sector is shifting from major Wall Street firms to fintech and financial service competitors. With the rise in the fintech industry’s use of modern technology, a revolution could be foreseen, potentially re-shaping traditional financial operations.
Despite the stagnant trend of the Global X FinTech ETF (FINX), analyst Rob Ginsberg sees potential in the fund’s future. This suggests that the fund might break from its current state and positively impact the overall finance landscape.
Even though the FINX ETF witnessed a slump in late 2021, there is an indication of a potential 7% return in the past quarter. This spurs growing optimism about the technology sector’s future prospects.
Fintech’s influence on the financial sector
Likewise, the increasing reliance on digital solutions in various sectors provides a rich opportunity for technology-based investments.
However, caution is advised due to market volatility and the need for careful timing with investment decisions.
Even though several banks have revealed their quarterly results, there remains uncertainty about other leading financial companies, including four of the top five holdings in the FINX. This adds a layer of unpredictability to the current financial landscape.
Ginsberg points out several positive indicators for the ETF, creating optimism about the fund. These include a rising upward trend, increased dividends and a steady growth in assets under management. He stipulates that the ETF’s strong performance despite market volatility suggests a solid investment strategy.
However, Ginsberg warns that the upcoming earnings could negatively impact the fintech stocks and the fund due to their high expectations and the ETF’s high expense ratio of 0.68%. He advises investors to be mindful of these factors before making an investment decision.
