Unlimited Storage: What To Look For On Your Next Spec List
Web hosting, similar to email, requires continuous online storage. As your business grows and as your web site develops you'll need more and more space. In a relatively new move, competing on price, Yahoo is offering unlimited storage to small business customers for $12 a month.
Computer World writes Guy Yalif, director of web hosting Yahoo said the company has enough capacity to handle the increasing requirements, though he declined to provide details. Yalif said the service is not designed to be a "hard drive" in the sky but rather a mechanism to help the small business users quickly get in line with growing online demands. He said Yahoo will monitor the service to prevent any illegal activities.
What should you look for in a web host and hosted email services company?
I recently signed up with Intermedia and one of the most important things I appreciate about the service and have tested on MANY occasions is their 24 hour, 7 day a week support. Most of their support reps are quite professional and have solved just about every problem I needed help with.
Other than support, your web host needs to have reliable service (uptime) and ensure on demand scalability. If you have a sudden burst in traffic you don't want that traffic to be slowed down.
