Covad and McAfee Bundle Security Protection Services
Bundling products and services is good for vendors as they get a 2 for one marketing/sales approach and its good for their customers. Instead of having to buy two separate services they get a more "integrated" offering - or at least an easier purchase opportunity.
This union of Covad and McAfee makes perfect sense.
Covad offers high speed internet (DSL, T1) to businesses and can bundle security services (from McAfee) to the offering as well.
The offering is comprised of two parts: Desktop and server protection and email/web protection.
Desktop and Server Anti-Malware
Covad's anti-malware service, powered by McAfee, provides continuous, up-to-date protection by blocking viruses, spyware, and identity theft.
Web/Email Hosting
Covad provides multiple hosting plans with 24/7 support.
What does this mean to you?
You may decide to go with the bundled Covad/McAfee service or elect to buy internet service from Covad but choose another solution (and there's many) from another provider. St. Bernard, who I'll write about a bit later on, has a full suite of security solutions in regards to email protection and content filters. Others include Websense, Trend Micro, Symantec, Postini and dozens of others.
For email security in particular you can host your entire email hosting to Google, Microsoft's Office Live, BlueTie and dozens and dozens of other providers.
