Web Conferencing: Laplink Conference Center

LapLink, the market leader in PC to PC connectivity announced a new product, "LapLink Conference Center", priced at $35 per month (with a one year contract).

Web conferencing systems are quite popular, WebEx, IM Conferencing, Yugma and so many others make it easy to use your PC to have a conference with 5 or 500 people. It can be hard to decide which system is for you.

Ease of use and "features" are two things to considered, balanced with price. For example, is integrated polling is important to you?

LapLink touts the following as key selling points of its new web conferencing tool:

  • Unparalleled speed: You've never seen web conferencing this responsive - up to 10 times faster than the competition. And sets up in an instant!
  • Low bandwidth: There's no need to burden your network. Web Conferencing maintains its speed even over dial-up connections.
  • Secure desktop file share: Business communication has never been this secure. Use 192-bit encryption to share bulky files that email cannot support.
  • Record and retrieve: With all web sessions recorded, never lose track of the important information gained during a conference.
  • What web conferencing system do you use? Use the comments to let us know.

This product appears to only support Windows. Since I use a Mac and I communicate with others that have Windows and Mac's, I am using Yugma. It has been great. Does everything I need. I recommend. Definately worth a try. -Bruce
