Circuit City's Growth follows Starbucks

I was in Washington, DC a few weeks ago and like New York, just about every few feet (or so it seems) there's a Starbucks. Big, small, medium - there's a Starbucks in so many locations around the US.

Circuit City announced at the national retailer's convention that they are looking to expand as well. 300 new stores within the next 2 - 3 years instead of 10 - 12.

The difference will be the size of the stores - from 30,000 square feet to 20,000 reports CNN Money reports.

Circuit City knows that as the lust for all things digital expand consumers (and businesses) are going to buy from the channel that is most convenient to them. Be it online or from a physical retail store.

For those who don't really know what they want a retail store is comforting.

What does this mean to you?

Although Circuit City is a massive consumer retailer they also serve local small businesses IT needs - hardware, software, installation and support. The more stores they have near your business the more likely they are to take business away from Dell, Gateway and your local IT consultant.
