Putting Chat in Businesses with Jabber

Instant Messaging is one of those "old" technologies, however, it's still not as prevalent as email (or probably fax in some segments for that matter). The problem with instant messaging is that for many businesses IM is not secure nor audited.

Jabber recently announced the availability of JabberNow 1.1, the first major upgrade of the enterprise instant messaging appliance. In less than 15 minutes, JabberNow deploys secure instant messaging (IM) that compliantly interoperates with your technology.

There's many IM tools you can use if you want a robust instant messaging solution, not only Jabber. But whatever you do, just downloading the consumer version of AIM, Yahoo or Microsoft Messenger can be a security risk and put you in trouble with government agencies if you are in a regulated industry.
