Computer Assocates' SMB Protection Suite
I made a breif reference to CA's new SMB protection suite last week, but want to focus on it a bit more here. Ensuring that your DATA is protected is so important. Recently we (my family) lost a cell phone. The hardest part of losing the phone was NOT the cell phone itself (sure, Verizon will charge us $150+ dollars for a new phone at full retail value) but the hardest part was LOSING all the phone numbers stored in the phone. Thankfully I have the important numbers I need on my Dell Axim Pocket PC but others don't have many of their numbers backed up.
With CA's SMB protetion suite you can ensure that your business has wrap around data protection. I would HIGHLY encourage you to work with your local IT solution provider on a comprehensive data solution.
"With CA's Protection Suites, we can easily monitor backup status, get an overview of virus alerts, check our licensing status and more - all from the same easy-to-use console," said Peter Wallace, IT manager, AAA Reading-Berks in Wyomissing, Pa. "Having a single install and all of these management capabilities in one place takes the complexity out of IT ownership."
Release 2 of CA's Protection Suites is six fully integrated solution suites that use a common Web-based management console and a desktop dashboard to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) reduce risks, system downtime and IT management costs.
The Protection Suites available today are:
∑ CA Desktop Protection Suite for protection of data on users' desktops and laptops.
∑ CA Server Protection Suite for protection of centrally stored and managed data.
∑ CA Business Protection Suite for protection of both server- and desktop-resident data.
∑ CA Business Protection Suite for Microsoft Small Business Server Standard Edition for SMBs using or planning to implement the standard edition of Microsoft's Small Business Server.
∑ CA Business Protection Suite for Microsoft Small Business Server Premium Edition for SMBs using or planning to implement the premium edition of Microsoft's Small Business Server
∑ CA Protection Suite for Midsize Business for Windows for SMBs managing 50-500 PCs using Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Standard Edition; and Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, Workgroup Edition
The Protection Suites, which are available in 10 languages, are offered in international markets through authorized resellers. In North America, the CA Business Protection Suites for Microsoft Small Business Server and the CA Business Protection Suite for Midsize Business for Windows are available through authorized resellers. The Desktop, Server and Business Protection Suites are available through CDW, PC Mall, Tiger Direct and CA's online store http://store.ca.com.
The Midsize Business for Windows suite is available for $6,995 for a 50-user license. All other suites are available from $325 to $1,099 (U.S. MSRP) for a five-user license. Add-on packs for all suites are available in increments of five, 10 and 20-user licenses.
