World Wide WiFi + Dial-Up Service in One
Although WiFi access is not nearly as widely available as many businesses would like, it is growing in use and more and more hotspots are popping up not only in the USA but around the world. You can choose to sign on to WiFi services (if you can't get free access) ala-cart or use a service like RemotePipe's that manages various WiFi connections and their associated service providers.
RemotePipes's IP Roamer tool gives you a universal sign-on and access to thousands of WiFi hotspots around the world.
Verizon is offering a wireless broadband service and RemotePipe's feels it can offer a lower cost service, you only pay when you use it, with extensive WiFi (and dial up) coverage.
Their press release reads - the IP Roamer rate plans for wireless broadband, on a pay as you go basis with no monthly subscription fees, no long term contracts, and no setup charges or data cards to purchase, are very cost effective vs. the Verizon BroadbandAccess rate plans. Rates for wireless broadband are as low as 9 cents per minute and rates for dialup access are under a penny per minute for local access and under 4 cents per minute for toll free 800 access for the 48 contiguous states in the US. Canadian toll free 800 dialup is as low as 8 cents per minute.
