On The Tech Horizon: WiMax

Just to keep you updated, INTEL is working on premiering WiMax, WiFi on steroids as Business Week writes.
WiMax's first rendition will fixed broadband wireless for business and consumers. This service will be offered by telecom companies. In the same way that INTEL got PC vendors to push INTEL's WiFi technology Centrino, which caused an explosion in WiFi use, INTEL will not push telecom vendors to adopt WiMax for their customers. INTEL will make the chips and vendors will sell and package the technology.
Business Week reports that WiMax will start putting out chips as early as next week.
In a couple of years, WiMax could move from a fixed wireless technology to a mobile wireless technology.
