Lotus Notes - Still Going Strong After All These Years

Lotus Notes is primarily a collaboration/email/communication tool for larger companies but I'd guess that there are some smaller businesses who use IBM Lotus Notes as well.
After all these years, and 118 million users, IBM's hope is to push use to 200 million customers.
PC World writes IBM/Lotus Monday celebrated the future of its Notes platform, telling customers that their investments are protected while at the same time touting the benefits and advancements of the company's emerging Java-based line of next-generation Workplace collaboration tools.
"Two years ago, the big question was 'What is the future of Lotus software?'," said Ambuj Goyal, general manager of Lotus Software, kicking off the opening of the company's annual Lotusphere conference.
The big advantage of parterning with a company such as IBM for tech solutions is that in many cases they will support their products for the long term. Of course it's so hard to predict the life span of support of a product, but between a strong consultant who can support the product and the vendor - you should have few support concerns.
