Online Applications - SMBs love them

Remember when you used to read articles about "hosted applications" and ASPs was such a cool word. Now, it's like nothing. We use hosted applications all the time - from simple search engines like Google and email like Hotmail to online financial applications like Quickbooks online.
Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) today announced that the number of QuickBooks(r): Online Edition customers has doubled from 13,000 in 2003 to more than 26,000 today. QuickBooks: Online Edition liberates small business owners from their offices and desktops and allows them to easily and affordably manage their business finances from anywhere.
Although 26,000 customers can't compare to the millions of users that Microsoft Office has, or the millions of copies of Quickbooks sold - 26,000, doubled from last year shows an increased demand for Quickbooks online and also hosted applications overall.
Hosted applications are not going to completely replace computer programs but with the help of Salesforce.com and others preaching the message of hosted applications - more and more businesses are going to embrace hosted applications.
