Software vendors: Target. Target. Target.

While offering broad business solutions is fine, to grow, requires horizontal applications and resellers who can build custom solutions. Intuit, Best Software, IBM and many others offer solutions tailored to specific markets.

With this in mind News Factor reports that SAP and HP are targeting the higher end of the SMB market with hosted versions of SAP's ERP Latest News about enterprise resource planning industry-specific applications, at a monthly price point of $325 per user.

The initial verticals will include oil and gas fuel distribution, consumer products-food, high-tech device and technical-service provider industries. Additional industry applications will be added over time.

The package includes services that have become standard under a software as a service offering: software and implementation services, maintenance and end-user training, support, functional management and application management.
