Businesses like the online applications

The evidence is in the up-tick in SalesForce.com's subscribers. Cnet reports Subscription software company Salesforce.com has added 85,000 individual subscribers to its online customer information system, an 85 percent surge in that figure compared with this time last year.
The hosted model does not work for all businesses or uses but it does for many. With a high speed internet connection, many hosted applications can be as fast as computer based applications.
Furthermore, any where you can access the Internet and a web browser you have access to your application. No carrying around a bag wrenching notebook.
