Technology at the cash register helps small businesses succeed
Startup Journal had a story headlined A Small Store's Strategy
For Raising Its Numbers. I was intending to read this for my own consumption and not post anything about it here in this space, as I figured it was a business management story and not technology.
However, the number one reason of the businesses success was indeed technology.

Business owner John Canter writes When I took over the store, the previous owner used a simple cash register to ring up sales. After making a sale, the clerk would then write down the item sold and the quantity remaining in the store. At the end each day, the handwritten list of items sold would be faxed to the owner, who would order and then deliver the merchandise the store needed.
