Verisign experience (hard sales)
I recently called Verisign, for some issues with my domain. All they need was my name, domain name and email address to reset my password. Very scary. They would then email me a link to reset my password to an email address. I guess it's not that bad, but I would have preferred them to ask for some additional information.
While on hold they were pushing their "next registration rights" survives. Then while talking to the rep, the person tried to "soft" up-sell me on a) transferring other domains to Network Solutions b) buying a.info,.net and etc domain name
