Mercury News: AOL to improve how it handles cancellations

America Online says it will improve the way it deals with customers who want to cancel their Internet service, resolving federal allegations that the company used unfair billing practices.

My spin: It's easy to sign on to services, but often service providers make their "departing" customers go through hoops to leave the service.
