USA Today: Verizon: Keep your number
My spin: Verizon has EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT customer service. And, yes, favoring customers to switch service with no charge and keep their numbers is a bit risky for the entire industry. HOWEVER, for telecom carriers that do things right - it's a huge PLUS and a way for them to get more customers.

In a dramatic about-face, No. 1 cell phone carrier Verizon Wireless said Tuesday that it should be easy and cheap for customers to keep their numbers when switching carriers. (full story)
