San Francisco Chronicle: Centrino not new era yet


My spin Hmm, now this is the kind of insight I like. Most all the media I've been reading hales Centrino as the best thing we've had since batteries. But I like Henry Norr's spin on this. Do you?

News Clip: To hear Intel tell it, last week's launch of a new series of chips for notebook PCs -- collectively marketed as Centrino Mobile Technology -- heralds the dawn of a new era for on-the-go computing.

That may turn out to be true, if Intel delivers on ambitious plans for follow-up versions of the new technology later this year and beyond. For now, though, while Centrino does deliver some real benefits -- above all, better battery life -- it's hardly a revolution.
