The Inquirer: Vendors show fury at WinXP Logo plan
My spin There's many products that are not Windows XP certified that Office Depot will miss out on, just because they are not WinXP certified and therefore can't display the logo. Windows XP works with tons of "legacy" applications and hardware devices. It costs vendors money to go through Microsoft's official certification program. While the money is not a major problem for larger vendors, many vendors are complaining that they do not have enough time to make the necessary changes.
News Clip: A PLAN BY Office Depot to only carry products that carry a "Designed for XP" logo has prompted outrage from hardware vendors and posed questions about products that are sold for both Windows and Linux platforms.(full story)
