Reuters: Intel Says PC Upgrades to Boost Corporate Spending
My spin: I just upgraded to two Dell 2.0Ghz PC's for my office. Intel's probably right, but not for the reasons they think. Does it really matter if Microsoft is dropping Windows 98 support? If you've been using Windows 98 for all these years you've probably got all the bugs worked out and for larger companies you might even have a support contract with a 3rd party vendor - other than Microsoft who can take care of any problems that come up.
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Intel Corp.(NasdaqNM:INTC - news) thinks a rebound in corporate spending on information technology is just around the corner, driven by the need to update aging desktop computers, and the world's largest chipmaker is getting ready for it, an executive said on Wednesday.
