News Factor: CRM 2003: Who Will Shine, Who's Going Down?
My spin: I do think that the CRM market is going to be tight but DO NOT think that stand alone CRM vendors are going to necessarily have a harder time than anyone else. If they build customer loyalty, as Front Range, BEST Software and others have done - they will succeed. Every customer does NOT want a bundled - all in one solution.
Microsoft's entry into the CRM market has put pressure on mid-market vendors like Onyx, Pivotal, FrontRange and Interface Software. At the same time, mid-market ERP vendors are all scrambling to develop a CRM offering. "...The losers will be those stand-alone CRM suite vendors that cannot provide tight ERP integration, especially in the areas of order management and inventory...."(full story)
