News Factor: Are Big-Screen Notebooks Too Big To Be Portable?
My spin: News Factor, excellent question. If you want a 17" monitor...you might as well stay at home and use your desktop. Or when you get to your client's location or elswhere hook up to a larger screen.
Although the typical notebook computer still has a modest 12-inch or 14-inch display -- small enough to use on an airplane without revealing trade secrets to the fellow in the next seat -- manufacturers began introducing larger-screen models in 2002. And earlier this month, Apple unveiled a 17-inch PowerBook, pushing the boundaries even farther. Are giant notebooks getting too big to be portable?
