NEW YORK - Today's personal digital assistants are light years ahead of Apple Computer's ill-fated 1992 Newton. Besides the usual address book, appointment calendar and to do list, many of today's newest PDAs can record sound, play music and accommodate add-on cards that turn a PDA into a camera, navigation device or a language translator. But that very success is now causing handheld manufacturers headaches. (full story)
