CNet: Web spec targets small businesses
My spin: Although this is VERY interesting, it really sounds like a geek who is dreaming. The problem I see is that every porn company in the US and around the world will be coding their sites with SMBmeta tags to get their sites ranked and listed!
Small businesses could gain a larger online presence through a new Internet specification now under development.
The move to establish the specification, called the SMBmeta initiative, is being led by Dan Bricklin, who helped popularize PC software in the late 1970s as co-inventor of the first spreadsheet program.
On Friday, details of the project were posted on a Web discussion board for review by programmers.
If this does work it would be GREAT for searchers to find more relevant web sites. But what ever happened to meta tags...?
