News Factor: Web Services Not Ready for Takeoff
My spin: Web services, those back end tools that enbale web sites to talk to one another...well maybe it's not going to happen the way the tech pundits envisioned it.
The concept of "Web services" gets bandied about a lot these days, and at one level appears to be gaining momentum. But if you look under the hood, you'll realize that Web services is as much hype as reality. I wouldn't be surprised if, years from now, we look back at Web services like we do the Betamax tape -- a superior technical innovation that was quickly consigned to the dustbin.
