News Factor: Updating PCs May Reboot Economy
My spin: What a timely story - Gateway just announced a rebate program for old computers and I'm getting to buy a new one to replace my aging 100MHZ computer (I have a beautiful IBM Netvista also!) for my home office.
Millions of personal computers in businesses nationwide are getting too old to handle increasingly complex processing tasks demanded of them. An expected push to replace them in coming months could revive tech spending and the economy. "CIOs are saying... 'We need new [computers] already,'" says IDC analyst Roger Kay.
