Is Microsoft king?

Infoworld's Ephraim Schwartz's 18 Nov article entitled, "I see dead companies" is something all vendors who have the remotest inclination to compete with Microsoft should read.

Ephraim writes, that there's a number of companies who are trying to create products to make Microsoft and its stranglehold in IT, irrelevant. However, he convincingly argues that it may in fact be that "Microsoft has won" already.

This is NOT to say that there's not room in the market for vendors other than MS, but those vendors that are trying to make a world that DOES NOT include Microsoft might be living a pipe dream.

The clincher in Ephraim's case is this "how could the Redmond giant truly become irrelevant when with every breath every rival promotes Microsoft products by promising compatibility?" (check out the full article)
