Dell Takes No. 1 PC Maker Spot from H-P-Report
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp. (NasdaqNM:DELL - news) has replaced Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ - news) as the No. 1 maker of personal computers worldwide, market research firm International Data Corp. said on Thursday. (full story)
My spin:Why is Dell leading....? Does it even matter? Let's face it - there's only 3 major computer Desktop manufacturers (Dell, IBM, HP/Compaq), two kind of major ones (Gateway, Sony) and then the rest. Dell advertises all over the place and does a LOT online. In addition their prices are pretty good.
On the other hand - a 5% lead it's not THAT much to sneeze at - is it?
