Sun To Unveil Linux-Based Applications
Sun Microsystems has announced plans to promote open source software that will serve as an alternative to Microsoft's Windows operating system and Office application suite. The new offering, which is based on Linux, is targeted toward specific segments of the enterprise market in which Microsoft may be vulnerable... (full story)
My spin: This is old news....a) Sun and others have a LOT of work cut out for them to catch up with Microsoft b) Star Office has been around for some time now (2 years or more...?) and has not made much of a dent into Microsoft's Office dominance
