Motorola and Microsoft Drive Next-Generation Handheld Applications

REDMOND, Wash., and AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS), the leading applications processor supplier to the PDA market, and Microsoft Corp. are collaborating on the underlying technology to drive new capabilities for handheld devices. (full story)

My spin:The next big battle (well one of them at least) will be on the PDA's of users. The two major warring camps are Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system and their licenses who make the actual PDA and Palm Operating System and their licenses who make their Palm based PDAs.

Microsoft is doing their thing (like this deal with Motorola) and Palm is doing its thing, like its recent deals with IBM and BEA...it's exciting!
