Australian Surf Company Rides Online Wave for Global Expansion
ACCPAC Strikes again...
SYDNEY, Australia and PLEASANTON, Calif., USA, September 24, 2002 - ACCPAC
International, Inc., a subsidiary of Computer Associates (NYSE: CA), today
announced that Australian-owned Surf Hardware International has standardized
on ACCPAC Advantage Series Enterprise Edition accounting software in all
five of its international offices. The implementation is hosted by ACCPAC
Online, ACCPAC's own 24x7 application hosting facility, so that all of Surf
Hardware International's locations have secure, anytime, anywhere access to
critical company data. Via the Internet, Surf Hardware's decision-makers can
see a consolidated, up-to-the-minute view of their global operations.
Just as important, Surf Hardware has avoided expensive in-house web servers
or private wide area networks that would have been necessary to connect the
offices, which are on four different continents. Because Surf Hardware
employees require only a secure Internet connection to access the system,
implementation has been fast and straightforward, with no need for costly,
site-specific teams. John Dummett, Chief Financial Officer, Surf Hardware,
said the company chose the solution from ACCPAC after a thorough, ten-month
evaluation. Because of the opportunities for cost savings and improved data
management afforded by a hosted solution, ACCPAC rose to the top of the
list.
"We're innovators but sensible business operators too," said Dummett. "It
was important to us to be leading, but not bleeding, edge. We wanted to see
the solution we selected in action and we visited some of ACCPAC's existing
online customers overseas. You'd be hard pressed to find another vendor with
as good a track record of established customers. Our experience in
interviewing these users was very reassuring in deciding on ACCPAC's
solutions."
