Linux - it won't out-do Windows but not for lack of trying
There's an increasing number of articles about Linux and how it's maturing - but still not nearly as close to make it a "must have" and compelling reason for most businesses to ditch Windows.
Forbe's Stephen Manes shares his experiences in using windows on a PC - the biggest problem is the lack of drivers for hardware and arcane, DOS like commands need to get something done from time to time.
There was an article I read in a tech mag (I'm asking some colleagues for the reference as I can't find it.....!) about an application that enables Linux users to use Microsoft Applications ontop of Linux. As expected there were some glitches and known issues.
Linux has a LONG way to go to catch up to Windows - but the clock is ticking, for sure in the geek and very technical community!
