Apple Adjusts Its Ads, Retailing To Draw In Windows Converts
WSJ: Apple Computer Inc. is thinking "different" about how to tackle a world dominated by Microsoft Corp.'s Windows software.
The Cupertino, Calif., company, a niche computer player with its proprietary Macintosh software and hardware, is taking a more combative attitude toward an industry filled with Windows-based computers. In a sign of its new approach, Apple is planning some changes to its chain of retail stores and is readying an online education effort, all to target potential "switchers" -- computer users who might be coaxed into abandoning Windows PCs in favor of Apple's Macintosh machines.
