Fortune Small Business: Don't do business with Yahoo

Fortune Small Business Technology Editor, David Lidsky wrote in a Dec 2001/Jan 2002 December column "The Tech Skeptic" that businesses she should be wary of doing business with Yahoo. He lays out his case as follows: 1) the pitches for upgrading to business email from a personal email account combined with ads for Yahoo personals and fantasy hockey - lack of professionalism 2) three separate premium services for building and hosting a Web site and two different email offerings - the tools are no good he writes 4) Yahoo Store - it appears that only big name companies get top placement in search listings - not smaller companies.

David writes: "...Yahoo's bid to be your business partner is an offer you can refuse" and "Yahoo is in dire need of a new source of money, but it has yet to prove that it deserves yours."
