Microsoft Jumps in Customer Automation Market (Reuters)
Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday said it will launch the first major new product from its small business unit later this year as the software giant jumps into the fast-growing market for customer service automation.
My spin:MS is launching the next phase in its software war. The business application battle is over - Word, Excel and etc dominate. The next stage is harnessing the next as a business tool - ACCPAC, Intuit, PeachTree, ICode, ACCWARE and a host of other providers are going to be fighting to serve the small business market. None of them have the marketing dollars of MS - but David did beat Goliath didn't he. And also - these smaller companies don't have to beat MS they can just keep loyal customers and produce innovative products.
