IBM stops making its TransNote: Portable, pen capture PC

CNet:IBM has discontinued its ThinkPad TransNote, a portable PC that also captures notes jotted on paper. On Monday, an IBM representative confirmed that the company has stopped manufacturing the notebook because, "in this economic environment, sales did not reach our expectations."

The problem for the TransNote was that IBM was selling into "a niche market that had limited growth potential," said Bob Sutherland, an analyst with Technology Business Research.

My spin:I know one person at the recent Free Agent ForumI participated in had one of these devices and was complaining about it....Seiko (see my review)has a similar device that enables your Palm to detect your handwritten notes and transmit them from a paper pad to the Palm/Handspring Visor - will they discontinue their model also.
